BANHAM
RESPONSE TO NORFOLK CC PLANNING DECISION
Commenting
on today's decision by Norfolk County Council's Planning
Committee to refuse planning permission for Banham Poultry's
proposed renewable energy plant at Bunns Bank, Director
Robin Goram said:
'It
is evident that this decision has been taken on political
rather than technical grounds, since it flies in the face
of both the advice of the Environment Agency, which has
already granted an IPPC permit to the facility, and also
the technical report commissioned by the County Council
itself, which concluded that the proposal should be encouraged.'
'It is very disappointing that the Council has turned its
back on our innovative plans to boost renewable energy,
reduce waste and cut carbon emissions. Fortunately there
is a statutory right to appeal against this decision, and
given the weight of technical evidence in favour of the
application we will seriously consider that option.'
