Poultry
gets powered up
The
Grocer, 28 February 2004
Environmental
bosses have endorsed a poultry producer's plans for renewable
power. Banham Poultry's plan to create a renewable plant
near its operations in Attleborough, Norfolk has been approved
by the Environment Agency.
The
company has now launched energy division, Banham Power to
take the £10m project forward. The plant is the first
of its kind in the UK and will safeguard 750 jobs at Banham
Poultry by offering a sustainable solution to the costly
problem of by-product disposal.
The
plant will be able to produce some 5.5MW of energy, enough
to supply households across the Attleborough area.
