PLANNING
PERMISSION SECURED FOR RENEWABLE POWER PLANT
Banham
Poultry has welcomed the decision by Norfolk County Council's
Planning Committee to approve the company's proposals for
a 5.5MW renewable power plant on the outskirts of Attleborough,
and for an in-vessel composting facility at nearby Carleton
Rode.
Commenting after the meeting, Banham Poultry Director Robin
Goram said:
'This decision marks an important step forward in safeguarding
the future of Banham Poultry and the many hundreds of local
jobs we support. By transforming our by-products into renewable
energy and high quality fertiliser, we have identified innovative
and sustainable new solutions to an increasing waste problem.'
'We are particularly pleased that the County Council have
now accepted the technical merit and justification of the
power plant project, which is addressing the urgent need
to increase supplies of renewable electricity, reduce waste
to landfill, and reduce carbon emissions.'
'Clearly we must now take time to evaluate the detailed
planning conditions applied to the construction and operation
of each plant. We will of course continue to keep local
people informed of the progress and development of both
projects.'
